Hello!

I'm Carrie, and this is pretty much my first foray into LJ/DW-based RPing, so I'll probably be in a near-constant state of mild to moderate fretting of the "AHAHA I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I'M DOIIIIING" variety for a little while (as poor Kathryn can attest). Bear with me.

I'm playing Daine Sarrasri from Tamora Pierce's Tortall books--specifically her Immortals quartet. Has anyone else read these? If not, you should, because they are delicious, fantastical brain candy coated in a generous layer of girl power. I've been listening to the Full Cast Audio productions at work to reacquaint myself with Daine, and they are delightful.

I'm open for chatting most evenings, though if I'm visiting my parents' place (a/k/a The Farmstead), the shoddy internet makes AIM prohibitively annoying. Your best bet is to PM me, at which point I'll either sign on if able, or we can have a good old-fashioned game of email tag.

I don't think I read the Immortals books? But I read many other Pierce things, and the character sounds cool. :D

Daine and Nepeta definitely need to have a thread together at some point.

And yes, they do! I know nothing of Homestuck (amazing how I've managed that), but that's fine, because neither does Daine. XD

Don't worry, I assume that people know nothing about it and work from there. Nepeta is like if a fangirl was raised by a cat. That's pretty much all you need to know about her. I figured they are both nature-y types and since Nepeta's going to be living in the cave in Central Park, she'll probably run into Daine pretty early on.

Yeah, Daine's going to be spending a LOT of time in the park, what with it being the only part of Manhattan that makes even a little bit of sense to her. XD Probably in an animal shape as often as not, but if Nepeta doesn't mind talking to a hawk with a human head...

Yeah, Nepeta's an alien so a hawk with a human head is not gonna seem that much weirder to her than humans / New York in general. Though if Daine's going to go running around in animal form, Nepeta may inadvertently try eating her at first. She is accustomed to hunting for her food. What with the growing up in a cave in the wild and literally being raised by a cat thing.

Are you around to discuss a thread where they meet? We could do it here of course, or over email / instant messaging of some kind?

Also, idk if you've ever been to this site but I rather love it and he's going to start reading the Immortals quartet soon so you may be interested: :D

I imagine Daine wouldn't hold it against her once it was sorted out. The only reason she doesn't hunt much anymore is because it's kind of hard to kill something after you've been it. :P

Not that I actually read him a lot, but I read his reactions to the first HP books and it was awesome, and meant to do more and then forgot, oops. That was like this summer.

Yes! Unfortunately, I'm battling crud at the moment, so it's hard to muster the energy for anything besides watching MST3K and having internal pity parties, but hopefully I'll be perkier in the near future. :P I am so mentally over this 'being sick' nonsense; my body just hasn't caught up. Blargh.
