I think that's entirely plausible, actually. He's finally entering a stable place where he can be like 'yes, I can set foot outside of my apartment without inflicting the Operator upon everyone who knows me'. He DOES have an interest in music since that was the only thing he ever really got the chance to enjoy before his life went back into the gutter, but he's also probably mostly self-taught and therefore doesn't actually know how to read music and shit and would probably like to learn that actual stuff
