I keep freezing up every time I try to type this, I don't know why. I just have so many ideas floating around in my head and I thought maybe instead of not doing anything with them, I could do something with them. I just want to throw them all down here and run away. Oh my god, why is this making me so anxious.

OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT there's an idea that I have been kicking back and forth with Jazzy for far too long. Are you the worst? Do you torture your characters? For far too long nice people with relatively good intentions have been coming through the rift. Maybe something a little strange should come through. Maybe something that EATS YOUR DELICIOUS SADNESS. 'But that's a good thing!' you are probably saying to yourself as you struggle to store all of your sad characters in your overflowing kitchen cabinets. 'My characters are so sad and they could use a break.' Well they will sure get one when their bodies become overloaded with dopamine and seratonin and they become impulsive and manic and eventually die of a heart attack! CAN THE RECENTLY BROKEN FACTIONS COMBINE FORCES TO DEFEAT THIS MENACE OF MANHATTAN?

A lot - some? I don't remember any of them now, but some of my ideas came from wanting things for the characters to solve/defeat. Nothing brings different people closer together faster than having to team up against something.

holy shit that sounds terrifying :o I don't know if I'd actually want to write about straight heart attack symptoms cause that's a particular something that kind of scares me, but manic uncontrollable euphoria is a thing I can definitely get behind. I feel like if something took Johnny's sadness there would literally be nothing left to him, haha. He'd be terrifying and unrecognizable 8D

I'm about more shitty weird critters coming through the rift in general.

ISN'T IT CREEPY I just really like the idea of happiness being a bad thing. I think it started with the idea of like... happy dreams? I remember thinking that the worst dream would be the dream of a perfect, happy life, because then you wake up to reality. I like how unnerving that is. It's just great irony that they're finally getting the happiness they want/deserve at the price of their health. There's a terrifying sort of dissonance in that, because who would want to give that up, especially as the worse it gets the less you grasp it. 'Oh god you're too happy you only have a week to live before you're so happy it kills you' 'haha that's great man today is a good day'

Yeah I'm REALLY into that. Do you have any ideas how people would counteract that? Cause another thing I'm into is impromptu alliances in times of need, and especially if the idea of Iman freaking out over Rush and Greta happens, she's gonna be desperately seeking a solution/help from people, so. Science solution? PUNCHING SOLUTION? maybe some people have a natural immunity?? I am just throwing things around idek

I have an eventual solution to get rid of the vampires themselves, but I never really thought about temporary solutions. Huh. I wonder if there is some sort of short term chemical fix? Depressants? Every is wasted 24/7? Maybe people with increased psychic ability can resist somewhat.

Oh my god, I could totally see Iman just getting drunk and staying drunk to insulate herself. That could actually be amazing, if she's trying to stay unaffected so she can take care of Rush and Greta, and the only option she has is endangering levels of intoxication? Man.

I'm trying to think if Bee might have some natural resistance cause of her weirdo forever-impossible-to-explain power. I can't really think of a solid reason, it's not like she has mental defenses like Daine? She's ALREADY super happy all the time, too, so it might be interesting to see her with this weird enforced happiness. And difficult to write. Ha ha yes good.

Jay is also sort of undead right now so maybe he could just be immune cause he's a ghost. He wouldn't be able to DO anything but he'd sure be freaked out.

What about the really powerful types, like angels and the Doctor, would this affect them??

Doctor yes, angels maybe? I don't even know how to put what I'm thinking into words. I guess it'd be mostly whoever wants to be affected. I like to imagine that it transcends power, or that it's like... a different sort of genre of power? It's like Doctor's Who's pseudo-scientific fantasy power which is incompatible with angel power so you can't cancel out one with the other? Also wow I totally forgot about Bee, I was thinking earlier 'I wonder if this would even bother people who are pretty happy already, do we even have any of those'.

Yeah I get you. I'm all about that kind of thing, especially because IT TURNS OUT I really like being a shit to Aziraphale. And what fun is it if the powerful creatures are immune to things, I mean really. I basically like being a shit to everyone except Bee, which is probably why I automatically wanted to protect her, but... I mean, she IS very cheerful but she has a lot to be sad about as well. She's just really adjusted and a massive optimist. The saddest she's ever been is when she meets other people and feels their sadness, like she almost burst into tears when she met Peter and Tim and so on. So... it could be interesting writing her with enforced happiness, or it could also be that she'd just be REALLY FREAKED OUT because everyone around her feels weird and wrong. Pretty much anything I could do with her would be upsetting as heck so hey

I have so many that I can't remember now and it's killing me. One was either an offshoot or a precursor to sadness vampires that involved the rift (or something on the other side of the rift) siphoning energy from Manhattan in the form of electricity, heat, life forces, etc, culminating in a freak 10-foot snowstorm in the vicinity of the rift, and possibly more stuff after that, mostly I just wanted a 'trapped in the TARDIS' plot ngl. Maybe it could happen when Ianto was having another party. I have been sitting on that for, like, an actual year? I thought of it when I was hot last August, when it was July in-game, and I intended it to be a Christmas-in-July sort of thing. Missed that, clearly.

Wasn't there an idea about the sadness vampires making the characters see sad things to induce their sadness so they could feed off it, too? Even more angst for the price of one!

I imagine the Balladeer might be able to pick up on something like "wow, everything is in major key all of a sudden that's weird", but he would not be immune at all and probably not even mention it once he got affected. Because EVERYTHING IS GREAT THAT'S NOT AN ISSUE

...admittedly he tends to be pretty cheerful anyway so it might be hard to notice. xD
